The end of another year, and time to strike resolved resolutions off the list and write new ones. So what have you achieved? One of my resolutions has been the same for a few years: find a nice man. I’m a few weeks off 33, single and in the middle of the marriage-and-babies years. Or at least my friends are. In truth all that I’m in the middle of at the moment is a family-sized panettone.

In 2020 “single” took on a new meaning. If you lived alone you isolated alone. That’s 15 million or so people in the UK for whom the first national lockdown meant solitary confinement for 23 hours a day (and a solitary walk for the other one). No real life
