The charity event, to be held in Salisbury, is hoping to raise money for Walking with the Wounded.
The speed dating will take place on Friday the 8th of November at the Cosy Club in Salisbury.
Organiser Georgina Jackman has said that dating sites, a popular way to meet new people, are becoming ‘too fake’.
She wants to “encourage people to go back to the good old fashioned days of meeting someone face to face’.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
The speed dating event is open to anyone aged between 21 – 35, and a ticket costs £10 – which includes a glass of prosecco on arrival.
Tickets can be purchased from the Cosy Club, Smith England Hair, or the Lash Bar in Salisbury.
WHY SPEED DATING?
Speed dating sees a group of single people rotate in a series of short dates with each other, in the hope of finding someone with whom they share a mutual attraction.
For those leaving the military, especially for those who may have seen active service, Georgina Jackman believes that there is a lack of relationship support.
“There seems to be many great things in place within the military to help these people with learning new skills, careers etc. but nothing to find companionship after a life changing event.”
Wiltshire is home to many of Britain’s soldiers, stationed in and around training facilities on Salisbury Plain.
The manager of Salisbury’s Cosy Club, Rob Daley, is looking forward to hosting the event:
“We’re a military city, and Walking with the Wounded supports all wounded servicemen”
“It’s a great charity for us to support.”
