According to TVLine, the next rose ceremony will weed out the least eligible members, with a twist.
The Bachelor franchise is usually reserved for 20-somethings in search of love, but the older generation wants to “win” their true love too. Who says romance is over after menopause? Besides, the men who are bald and liable to break a hip still have that twinkle in their eye.
Age Is Nothing But A Number
As per Deadline, ABC’s head of alternative programming Rob Mills tweeted, “Bachelornation, give us your Grumpiest Old Men, give us your Goldenest Girls.”
Additionally, there’s a casting call on ABC’s site which explains, “Now casting Seniors Looking for Love! Are you entering your golden years and looking for romance? The Producers of The Bachelor are looking for active and outgoing single men and women IN THEIR GOLDEN YEARS for a new exciting dating show!”
Suddenly, 65 and older is the targeted demographic.
Other spin-offs are in the works too, as we reported on The Things, including an Olympic-themed show and one for musicians.
From Retirement To Reality TV
Will the producers keep things the same as the way they are on the “regular” episodes of The Bachelor? Will everyone live in a mansion, travel to exotic places, drink too much booze, and fool around in the “fantasy suite?”
Speaking of the fantasy suite, the current bachelor, Peter is having an issue with one of the final three, Madison. She’s outwardly uneasy about his “canoodling” with the others behind closed doors. Hollywood Life reports she doesn’t want him to “go all the way” with either, since she’s “saving herself” for marriage. Didn’t she know which reality show she signed up for?
Would Your Grandparent Go For It?
Grandkids may nominate their widowed or otherwise single Grandma but do they really want to see her running after some seventy-year-old like a desperate puppy dog?
We’ll have to wait and see if this idea proves successful. We also need to know if these older-stars are too old for Tinder? We’re not sure if they’d embrace this!
