TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The Toledo Police Department is warning the public about reports of a scam targeting dating app users.
According to TPD, scammers are posing as Toledo Police detectives and falsely claiming that there are criminal cases against the app user. The scammer then demands the user pay money to have their charges dropped.
TPD says law enforcement agencies will never ask for money to dismiss criminal cases/charges.
If you encounter this scam, don’t send any money, immediately stop communication and report the incident to your local law enforcement.
