A woman quickly realised that the man she was dating was using her for money – so gave him a taste of his own medicine to “teach him a lesson”.
Judy met a bloke called Steve on dating app Tinder.
He appeared to be a “handsome business man” and so they went for dinner after realising they had lots in common.
When the dinner was over, Judy offered to pay as it would “be nice” and she’d had “a really good time”.
Steve accepted her offer and assured her he would pay the check next time – the couple made plans to meet up again a few days later.
On their second date, Steve began to order huge amounts of food, Judy said he ordered “almost everything on the menu” along with wine.
He kept repeating that he would pick up the check at the end.
“It was like a feast, it tastes several hours,” Judy told Ghosted, the podcast.
When the bill came though, Steve had forgotten his wallet – and Judy had to pick up the £100 bill already.
The experience stung as she had already spend money on a train to go 90 minutes away to see him.
After telling the tale to a friend, the pal said: “”He must be one of those guys who wants free dinners.”
But, Judy really liked him.
She said: “I decided to give him another chance.
“”We went out again and it was another expensive restaurant and he ordered a lot of entrees, mains and plenty of wine.
“It was very boring, he was saying the same things he’d already said before. “When it came to pay, I was thinking ‘I hope he doesn’t find a reason not to pay’ and, if he did, I’d teach him a lesson.”
When the £125 bill came, Steve told Judy that there was “something wrong” with his account and that she would have to pay again.
Now it was clear that he was using her for lavish dinners she took action.
“I laughed and said my wallet was in my car,” she said.
“So I left and never returned. I did a runner! I was laughing the whole time, I’ve never done that in my life. I just walked out.”
Judy continued: “I never even knew this thing existed but it’s one of these things I’ve heard my girlfriends say that a lot of girls take advantage of the guy online – they want to go on free dinners.
“I actually did not even think for a second that there would be a guy out there taking advantage of women by having free dinners.”
What a nightmare!
