Hollyoaks star Jessica Ellis is thought to have split up with her fiance two years on from his proposal.
Jessica, 36, played Tegan Lomax in the Channel 4 soap and got engaged to Matt Shaw back in 2021, but the couple had not yet married.
Now, The Sun is reporting that a source close to Jessica has claimed they have called time on their relationship and that she has removed photos of them together from her social media.
The source said: “Jessica has quietly split from Matt after they decided marriage really wasn’t going to work.
“She’s already moving on and is looking for love with the help of her friend Kimberly Hart-Simpson. She’s removed all trace of Matt from social media and is really looking for a fresh start.”
Jessica’s friend Kimberly has also appeared in Hollyoaks and is best known for playing Nicky Wheatley in Coronation Street.
When Jessica got engaged to Matt, she had posted a happy photo of them together pointing out her sparkling engagement ring and looking thrilled, with the caption: “Well yesterday was a bit of alright thanks to my fiancé.”
The TV star joined the cast of Hollyoaks in 2013 and left in 2018, but later told how soap bosses had asked her to keep her exit a secret from the rest of her castmates for six months.
She said: “‘I’m so sad. It was really sad because we’re actually really good friends and they have become my family.
“I’ve known about six months. I had to keep it a secret but obviously my family knew but… I think Kieron’s still in denial.
“A lot of it was genuine tears. It was heartbreaking.”
Her character Tegan came to a grisly end on the soap when she was killed off during the 2018 storm storyline.
She ended up being impaled on a tree branch, having previously survived cancer twice and a murder attempt.
Popular character Tegan’s other storylines in Hollyoaks included finding out her daughter had been accidentally swapped at birth with another baby, and losing her true love in a house fire as well as uncovering a serial killer’s crimes.
Earlier this year, fans saw Jessica take up a role in ITV police drama The Bay for three episodes. She has also appeared in Fat Friends The Musical and hosts her own podcast, Dilemmas with Jess Ellis.
Jessica’s representatives have been contacted for comment.
