Two San Elizario soccer players were named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Soccer Elite Team on Thursday.
In Class 4A boys, San Elizario’s Matthew Hernandez and Stephen Chairez were named the Defensive Player of the Year and the Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively.
Both played key roles in leading the Eagles to the Class 4A state semifinals. San Elizario went 5-1 in this year’s playoffs. The Eagles also won district and regional championships.
